Shipping Your Records

There are a few options for shipping your records to me. USPS Media Mail is the most affordable and convenient option, but takes the longest amount of time. Single-carrier shippers such as FedEx and UPS will be faster, but more expensive and provide added insurance.

Shipping is calculated by total weight of the package. Media Mail is rounded up to the nearest pound in ~50 cent increments from the base price of $2.75. The maximum package weight is 70 lbs. To estimate the cost of shipping you can use the USPS website calculator shipping to zip code 11372.

I have done my best to estimate shipping costs as close to actual weight of the package, but every LP and sleeve will be different. Please keep in mind I spend a lot of time and effort packaging safely, and do not charge extra for this: consider any shipping difference part of my service. You can add additional insurance as necessary. I always ship with a tracking number; absolutely no exceptions.

I have partnered with a local business to receive packages, ensuring that there is always someone present when the package arrives and it can be safely stored until I pick it up.

Please see this guide for complete packing instructions and tips on how to safely ship your records to me.

Disclaimer: While the safety and care of your records are guaranteed while in my possession, I cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss that occurs during shipping by an outside party. I would strongly suggest adding insurance any time you are sending records you value.

Custom Built Shipping Boxes

One of the most frustrating parts of being a collector is opening that familiar square package only to find out that a shoddy packing job has damaged your record or sleeve in some way. There is no excuse for this.

I have created a series of custom double-boxed padded shipping packages to keep your records safe no matter how they are treated along the line. Modeled after the Masterpak fine art shipping boxes, these sturdy cardboard containers are lined with foam to cushion a traditional record box that snugly holds the vinyl. See below for a full outline of how the boxes are constructed.

Your records are just as valuable as an expensive piece of art and should be protected in the same way.

Local Drop Off/Pickup

COVID-19 UPDATE: Please reach out to me to discuss local drop off and pickup. My schedule can be variable at times, but I can hopefully be available at a time that works for both of us.

Are you in the New York City area? You can arrange to drop off and pickup you records directly from me and save on the costs of shipping. I am located in the Jackson Heights neighborhood of Queens, or during the work week at my office near Chelsea Piers.

*Please note that trial cleanings must be shipped to me, pickup/drop off is not available.

Choose the shipping box that is right for you

I have created three box options of different depths to accommodate a variety of record quantities. Each package starts with a 16 x 16 inch cardboard box as the outer layer. Corner protectors are added for stability. The top and bottom layers are made of dense, light weight foam for support and cushioning. The inner layer consists of pick and pack foam cubes custom cut to hold the inner record box securely in place. This inner layer can accommodate traditional record mailers of different sizes depending on how many records you are sending.

This package makes sure that your records and/or sleeves never come into contact with the outer walls of the package, ensuring safe, damage-free shipment.

I custom build each box when it is ordered – please contact me to arrange purchase. Turnaround time is generally a few days.
